Vancouver, CANADA – July 30, 2021— Hydrogen In Motion (H2M) announced a collaboration with H2e Power out of Pune, India for a project to assess, design, install and demonstrate a hydrogen fuel cell 3-Wheeler using H2e PEM Fuel Cell integrated with Hydrogen In Motion’s innovative solid state hydrogen storage technology onboard. This Indo-Canadian collaboration leverages the zero emission and hydrogen strategies released in India and Canada. Hydrogen In Motion is receiving advisory services and up to $600,000 in funding support for this project through the Canadian International Innovation Program (CIIP). CIIP is a funding program offered by Global Affairs Canada and is delivered in collaboration with the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP). Respectively in India, H2e’s contributions towards this collaboration are supported by the Department of Science & Technology (DST) in collaboration with Global Innovation and Technology Alliance (GITA).
About This Project – This project will install a hydrogen fuel cell range extender using H2M low pressure hydrogen storage tanks on an electric powered three-wheeled auto rickshaw. Project goal is to significantly extend operational range and provide auxiliary power for home use when not in service.
Ms. Grace Quan, CEO Hydrogen in Motion said, “India is a natural market for our low pressure high density swappable hydrogen tanks. H2M technology can really be instrumental in hydrogen fuel cell adoption and address India’s energy needs with a zero emission technology. Our partnership with H2e is the beginning of a rollout of a diverse number of products and applications in motive and stationary fields with our combined hydrogen technologies.”.
Talking about the development, Mr. Sidharth R Mayur, Founder & Managing Director, h2e Power Systems said, “India is on the cusp of a big e-Mobility revolution, and we are fast moving form Fossil based mobility to batteries & Hydrogen. We are already producing Green Hydrogen from our Electrolysers & we are now developing a 3-Wheeler concept for inter-city public & goods transport using Green Hydrogen. The innovation in our 3-Wheeler concept is the path breaking technology developed by Hydrogen in Motion Inc. (H2M), Canada, which stores
Hydrogen at a very low pressure, thus reducing the cost of storage and transportation of Hydrogen and will help us bring the cost of the 3-Wheeler at par with Battery Electric Vehicles. We are thankful to GITA for their support to this novel idea, which has promise to amplify the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) concept in India. h2e, once again, is at the forefront of the Hydrogen path way in India.”
